Taylor Swift’s new live album, Lover (Live From Paris), has become her 13th No. 1 album in the UK, breaking Madonna’s record for the most by a female artist.

This also ties her with Elvis Presley as the international artist with the most No. 1 albums in the UK. The Rolling Stones (14), Robbie Williams (15), and The Beatles (15) still hold more.

The album, featuring live performances from her Lover studio album, is Swift’s first live album to reach No. 1. Originally released in small numbers for Valentine’s Day 2023, it only reached No. 90. However, a new heart-shaped double vinyl version sold 47,000 copies, making it the biggest album debut of 2024 so far.

Unlike most albums, Lover (Live From Paris) is not fully available on streaming services—only as individual tracks. It’s rare for an album to reach No. 1 without streams, but Swift has done it before. Her album Reputation also topped the UK charts in 2017 through physical sales alone before being added to streaming later.

Taylor Swift got her first UK No. 1 album in 2012 with Red, her fourth album. Since then, her project to rerecord old albums has helped her top the charts again, with new versions of Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989 all reaching No. 1. Fans are now waiting for her last rerecorded album, Reputation. Swift might take a break after finishing her Eras Tour, which became the highest-grossing concert tour ever when it ended in December.

This week, rock band Inhaler, led by Bono’s son Elijah Hewson, reached No. 2 with their third album, Open Wide. Kendrick Lamar jumped from No. 31 to No. 3, thanks to the physical release of his album GNX and his talked-about Super Bowl halftime show.

Lamar’s Super Bowl performance also pushed his Drake diss track Not Like Us to No. 2 on the singles chart, making it his highest-charting song ever. However, Messy by Lola Young stayed at No. 1 for a fourth week.

Winning five Grammy awards helped Not Like Us climb the charts, and other Grammy winners also saw a boost. Best New Artist winner Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club hit a new peak at No. 4, while Benson Boone’s former No. 1 song Beautiful Things rose to No. 6 after his viral performance at the Grammys. Doechii’s Denial Is a River also entered the Top 10 for the first time at No. 9, after her widely shared performance at the awards.
