The World’s Best Vodka—According To The 2024 Singapore World Spirits Competition
The Singapore World Spirits Competition recently released its annual list of the best alcoholic drinks in various categories, and we have the exclusive results. Last week, we revealed the top bourbon chosen by the judges. Now, let’s see what they picked as the best vodka.
First, a bit about the competition: it was started in 2019 by the Tasting Alliance and originally focused on spirits from the Asia Pacific region. Over the years, it has expanded to include entries from around the world, although most of the judges and entries are still from this region. Today, it’s one of the top spirit tasting events in the area.
The Best In Show Vodka for 2024 was chosen by the Singapore panelists. The winner, Pluto Vodka, comes from the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, not from Asia. This 80-proof vodka is made by Pluto Distiller from 100% organic Australian sugarcane, which is cool-fermented and distilled ten times for a unique flavor.
The vodka from Pluto has a subtle sweetness and a rich, creamy texture that reminds you of coconut cream. This unique flavor likely impressed the judges in Singapore. It’s not the first time Pluto Spirits has been recognized; last year, they won a Master Medal at the Global Vodka Masters and Best Vodka at the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards 2023.
Pluto Spirits makes their vodka in small batches without any additives, and it sells for about $68 AUD (around $46 USD). They also offer shipping across Australia for an extra $10. However, they don’t distribute to the United States yet. With their recent successes, Pluto products, including vodka, gin, and two types of rum, might soon be available in the U.S. So, keep an eye out for them!
